A Russian aviation watchdog claims that four airports have reopened after banning flights
The aviation watchdog Rosaviatsia said that Russian airports in the towns of Kazan, Nizhnekamsk, Izhevsk, and Perm, which temporarily suspended flights on Sunday morning to protect civilian aircraft, had resumed regular operations.
Although the reason for the halt in airplane arrivals and departures was not given, Russian airports have previously been forced to close because of the possibility of Ukrainian drone strikes in the region.
According to Rosaviatsia, all airport restrictions were removed at 11:00 a.m. (0800 GMT). Moscow is to the east of the four cities.
Due to a Ukrainian drone strike on a residential complex and other parts of the city on December 21, flights were suspended at Kazan’s airport; nevertheless, no one was hurt.
