Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt Agree to a Divorce Settlement

In their divorce, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have come to an agreement.

Eight years after Angelina filed for divorce on the grounds of “irreconcilable differences,” the ex-couple has finally reached a mutually agreeable deal.

James Simon, Angelina’s attorney, told PEOPLE: “Angelina filed for divorce from Mr. Pitt more than eight years ago. She has been concentrating on finding peace and healing for their family ever since she and the kids left all of the properties they had shared with Mr. Pitt. This process began eight years ago and is still going strong now. Although Angelina is genuinely worn out, she is glad that this particular phase is finished.

Despite the contentious breakup, a person close to Jolie also stated: “She doesn’t speak ill of [Pitt] publicly or privately.” She had been working hard to be positive after a period of darkness.

Just two years into their marriage, Angelina, 49, filed for divorce from Brad, 61, in September 2016.

Days before, during a private jet flight, Angelina reported that Brad had mistreated her and their six children; however, following an investigation, officials did not file charges against him.

For the benefit of their kids, Angelina and Brad later issued a joint statement announcing that they will keep all divorce procedures confidential.

“The parties and their counsel have signed agreements to protect their children’s and family’s right to privacy by keeping all court documents confidential and hiring a private judge to make any necessary legal decisions and to expedite the resolution of any remaining issues,” they stated. The parents are dedicated to presenting a unified face in order to facilitate healing and reunion.

The ex-couple’s children are twins Vivienne and Knox, who are currently 16 years old, Maddox, 23, Pax, 21, Zahara, 19, and Shiloh, 18.

Since the breakup, they have fought over custody and legal matters pertaining to their French farm and winery, Château Miraval, despite being officially single in 2019.
