Reports say Martino quits his job at Miami after their loss in the MLS Playoffs
According to several news sources, Gerardo “Tata” Martino quit as head coach of Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami team after they lost to Atlanta United in Round One of the MLS Cup Playoffs.
With a record-setting 74 points in the regular season, Miami looked like they would easily win the title. But earlier this month, they were shocked when the ninth-seeded Atlanta beat them in the first round of the best-of-three series.
Martino hired Messi as a coach for the Argentine national team and at Barcelona. He then moved to Miami last year.
His manager, Jorge Mas, and he are going to be at a news conference on Friday. His reason for stepping down was given as “personal reasons” by the media.
