DDG Requests That Fans Quit Making Fun of Halle Bailey Because of His Son’s Drama
DDG, Halle Bailey’s ex-boyfriend, told her to stop getting mean texts after they had a fight about their young son being on a livestream.
The 24-year-old actress is married to the 27-year-old rapper, whose real name is Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr. They have an 11-month-old son named Halo. She was angry that he showed the baby to “millions of people” on a live Twitch broadcast without her permission.
“I wasn’t told or notified, and I am very upset to have my baby in front of millions of people,” she wrote on X. I’m his mother and guardian, and I’m upset that I wasn’t told, especially since I’ll be out of town soon. (sic)”
Following the public argument, Halle was harassed on social media by haters. She has since deleted her accounts.
DDG defended his ex-girlfriend in a YouTube video that came out on Thursday and said he has “unconditional love and respect” for both her and the mother of his child.
“One thing I don’t like about people is that they hate on Halle,” he said.
“It doesn’t matter to me or to other people if they think she’s wrong or right.”
“She might be going through something in her mind that I don’t understand as a man after having a child.”
“When things like this happen, I try to be as calm as possible because Halo needs her, I need her, and we all need each other to give him a safe, fun, and memorable childhood.”
“And I wouldn’t have him if it weren’t for Halle. That was enough for me to love and respect her forever.”
The ex-couple said last month that they had decided to end their relationship, even though it had been “not easy.”
“After much thought and deep conversations, Halle and I have decided to go our separate ways,” DDG wrote on Instagram. It wasn’t easy to make this choice, but we think it’s the best thing for both of us. I love the love we’ve shared and the time we’ve spent together. Even though things have changed in our relationship, we still love each other very much.
The “Little Mermaid” star didn’t say anything about the breakup in public, but DDG ended his statement by saying that he and Halle plan to “co-parent” their child from now on. He also asked fans to be “understanding and supportive” during this time.
He said, “As we think about our own paths and our roles as co-parents, we treasure the bond we’ve made and the special times we’ve spent together.” We ask for your understanding and help as we go through this change.
Thanks for your love and support. – DDG.”
