In July, Kenya’s annual inflation rate drops to 4.3%
According to data released by the statistics office on Wednesday, Kenya’s inflation (KECPI=ECI) dropped from 4.6% a month earlier to 4.3% year over year in July.
Inflation decreased to -0.2% on a monthly basis from 0.4% in June.
In the medium run, the Kenyan government aims for an inflation rate of 2.5% to 7.5%.
On August 6, the central bank is scheduled to release its most recent loan rate (KECBIR=ECI) and open new tab decision.
The bank stated that inflation was stable within its near-term target range and that it sought to maintain exchange rate stability when it kept its benchmark lending rate (KECBIR=ECI) at its most recent meeting in June. The bank also opened a new tab at 13.0%.
