Onana, a midfielder, leaves Everton to join Villa
Amadou Onana, a defensive midfielder for Aston Villa, has joined Everton, a Premier League rival, the two teams announced on Monday.
Although Villa and Everton would not reveal the deal’s exact value, British media suggested it was worth about 50 million pounds ($64.6 million). The contract duration of the 22-year-old Belgium international was not disclosed by Villa.
Onana, who was born in Dakar, Senegal, began his senior career at Hamburg in Germany before joining Lille in Ligue 1 in 2021. Following his 2022 transfer to Everton, he made 75 appearances for the club.
In the previous season, Villa placed fourth in the English premier league.
