American defender Wiley, 19, joins Chelsea from Atlanta United
Caleb Wiley, a left back for the United States, has signed a six-year contract with Chelsea from Major League Soccer team Atlanta United, the Premier League team announced on Monday.
Although Chelsea withheld the financial information, British media claimed the sale was valued at approximately 8.5 million pounds ($11 million).
Wiley, an MLS debutante who came via Atlanta’s youth, has made 85 appearances and scored six goals.
In a 1-1 draw with Mexico last year, he made his debut for the United States.
Wiley is in Paris training with the American team in anticipation of the Olympics.
$1 equals 0.7745 pounds.
