Yanga SC Edging Out Dodoma Jiji To Reach Federation Cup Quarters
At Jamhuri Stadium in Dodoma on Wednesday night, Young Africans (Yanga SC) defeated Dodoma Jiji 2-0 and gave their supporters a lovely Eid al-Fitr prize.
With the win, Yanga advanced to the CRDB Bank Federation Cup quarterfinals, where they will try to defend the championship for a record third year. The holders won it all thanks to an early own goal by defender Emmanuel Joseph (3′) and a score by attacker Clement Mzize in the 66th minute.
Eight teams—Ihefu, Tabora United, Coastal Union, Namungo, Geita Gold, Azam, Mashujaa, and Yanga—have advanced to the quarterfinals with great speed.
On Sunday, Miguel Gamondi’s team will go to CCM Kirumba Stadium in Mwanza to play Singida Fountain Gate in the Premier League.
