Rajon Rondo announces his retirement from the NBA: ‘I’m done’

Rajon Rondo announced his retirement from the NBA, ending a storied career that included multiple NBA championships and personal accolades.

Rondo, who has not played in the 2023-24 season or the previous season, appeared on the All Smoke podcast on Monday, April 1, to confirm that he has retired from playing at the professional level.

“Absolutely,” the 38-year-old responded when asked if he was ready to retire or if he still wanted to play. “Yeah, I’m done. I can’t. I’d rather spend time with my kids.”

While the court general talked about his time in the NBA, he also talked about his life goal of playing for a championship, which he said was worth the journey. “What a time, it was definitely something that I never took for granted when I was in the game,” Rondo said of his career. “I loved every minute of it, and I appreciate the brotherhood that I was able to share and bond and grow with over the years.”
