Alexei Navalny’s funeral to be held on Friday in Moscow, if Authorities Don’t Block It
The funeral of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny is scheduled to take place on Friday at a church in the Moscow neighborhood where he lived, his press secretary said Wednesday. Authorities refused hand over Navalny’s body to his family for eight days, in what his team said was an effort to “cover” up who was accountable for his death and block a public burial.
“I’m not sure yet whether it will be peaceful or whether the police will arrest those who have come to say goodbye to my husband,” Ms. Yulia Navalnaya said in a speech to the European Parliament in Strasbourg, France.
