Supporters who bought tickets for AFC Leopards’ Sunday fixture against Bandari have had their money returned, after the opening weekend of the 2026/27 Football Kenya Federation Premier League failed to go ahead.
The 12-time champions confirmed in a statement that the refunds have gone out, and told any supporter still waiting to get in touch with them. “We wish to confirm to all our fans and stakeholders that refunds for the postponed Bandari match have been processed. Let us know if any one has not received their cash,” the club said.
The fixture collapsed when the federation called off the league’s start, a decision forced by a pair of court orders handed down on Friday evening. One, from the High Court in Murang’a, directed that the season not begin. The other, out of Kiambu, held that the competition cannot run unless Mombasa United appear in the fixture list.
Across the city, Ingwe’s fiercest rivals chose to hold on to their gate money instead. Gor Mahia assured supporters their tickets would still be good whenever the campaign finally kicks off. “For fans who had already purchased tickets please do not worry. Your tickets remain valid and will be honoured when the season officially gets underway,” K’Ogalo said in a statement.
This is now the third occasion on which the new season’s opening has been pushed back, with the litigation surrounding the league the reason each time.
