Casablanca is set to host the final of the 2030 World Cup, according to the head of the Moroccan federation

The President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (RMFF) was reported by Spanish news agency EFE on Thursday to announce that the 2030 World Cup final will take place in Casablanca.

FIFA has not yet revealed the location for the final, as Spain and Morocco compete fiercely to host soccer's most significant match.

The province of Benslimane will proudly host the 2030 World Cup final," Fouzi Lekjaa announced at a political party event in Bouznika, Morocco, on Thursday, as reported by EFE.


A representative for the global governing body of soccer stated, "A decision will be made by FIFA in due course.

Reuters has reached out to the RMFF and the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) for their comments.

Benslimane is a city located 60km from Casablanca and is home to the $1-billion Hassan II stadium, currently under construction for the World Cup, with a projected capacity of 115,000. It will be the biggest stadium in the world dedicated solely to football.

The upcoming World Cup will be a distinctive occasion, featuring matches hosted in six countries across three continents for the very first time. Although the first three matches will occur in Argentina, Paraguay, and Uruguay, the bulk of the tournament is being held in Morocco, Portugal, and Spain.


FIFA has not yet finalized all the cities that will host games, but both Morocco and Spain are vying for the final. The announcement regarding the venue for the 2026 World Cup final was delayed until February 2024.

Spain should host the final," stated Rafael Louzan, Lekjaa's counterpart at the RFEF, in an interview with local media earlier this month.

In August, FIFA stated that media reports claiming President Gianni Infantino had guaranteed the final to Morocco were "false and misleading."
