The former Bad Boy artist claimed he contributed to the creation of The Reckoning but ended up with nearly nothing, prompting 50 to respond with a Cash App joke related to his allegations.

50 Cent humorously replies to Mark Curry, adding a couple of eyeball emojis and a spontaneous Cash App handle. After Curry shared a video claiming he earned $69 from the Netflix documentary “Sean Combs: The Reckoning” and mentioned he didn't receive the production credit he was promised, 50 reposted it with a caption advising Curry to relax and inquiring about his Cash App, subsequently naming the handle "$Diddytouchedyour…" and tagging his 50centaction page.

The comments ended up precisely where you would expect them to be. Within hours, more than a thousand people had gathered in the comments.

Curry had presented a genuine complaint prior to that response arriving. He mentioned that “Come With Me,” the 1998 Godzilla soundtrack record he contributed to, was featured in the documentary and has been viewed over 50 million times, yet he only received $69 from it due to the absence of a sync license. A sync license is the contract that compensates a songwriter when their music is utilized in a film or television program. Curry mentioned that he was informed that no permission was required since he was merely discussing the song instead of performing it. He described the entire situation as dreadful and asserted that obtaining that license was the clear choice if anyone genuinely aimed to direct funds to the victims.

Then he arrived at the credit. Curry mentioned that he was informed he would receive a production credit, and he claims he worked in line with that expectation, recruiting talent and arranging for individuals he wrote about in his book to appear on camera. He states that the promise included a grandfather clause that would apply if the project were sold in the future. His summary of how it concluded: worse than any agreement he ever had with Puff.

He also claims that the documentary negatively impacted his book. His stance is that viewers observed him sharing his narrative on Netflix and concluded that there was nothing more to purchase.

Curry shared the news shortly after “The Reckoning” received an Emmy at the Creative Arts ceremony on September 5, winning Outstanding Picture Editing for a Nonfiction Program. 50 was absent from the room. He was in Canada and shared a post about it, captioning it with a question about whether anyone still believed he was taking an L. Curry observed the situation and remarked that it is absurd for someone to receive an award based on another person's story while the individual the story revolves around receives no recognition.

The Cash App name is not just a random insult, either. It directly addresses Curry's public statements regarding his time with Sean Combs, which also contributed significantly to the documentary's impact. Curry appeared in the initial teaser. His voice is one of the first things anyone learned about the project. Transforming that into a punchline is a deliberate decision, and 50 Cent is fully aware of the implications of that choice.

What he failed to do was address the question that lay beneath it all. When 50 announced the project in 2023, it was stated that the proceeds received by G Unit Film and Television would be directed to victims of sexual assault and rape. Curry expresses that he has been waiting for nearly a year to find out where any of that money has actually gone and has received no information in return. “The Reckoning” was released on December 2 and garnered 21.8 million views within six days, marking it as one of the most successful documentary launches for Netflix. Combs is presently serving a 50-month sentence following his conviction last year on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution, with a projected release date set for May 2028.
