Yanga to host a training camp in South Africa and play a friendly match against Kaizer Chiefs
Young Africans (Yanga SC), a formidable team from Tanzania, will soon begin a pre-season camp in South Africa to get ready for the 2024–2025 season.
This will demonstrate their desire and readiness for the difficulties ahead, and will be a considerable departure from their regular preparations in Kigamboni. Yanga had an incredible season-ending performance, winning the Premier League for the third time in a row and for the thirty-first time in the club’s illustrious history.
Additionally, they won the Federation Cup, defeating Azam FC 6-5 in a thrilling penalty shootout following a goalless draw in ordinary play.
The communications officer for Young Africans, Ally Kamwe, was upbeat about the impending arrangements. “We’re approaching this season in a different way than past ones. We have to travel to Kenya for the stadium’s opening in Kisumu, then we anticipate camping in South Africa at the request of several clubs,” Kamwe stated, as cited by the Guardian.
He underlined how crucial the South African camp is for offering a calm setting that supports careful planning. The team from Jangwani Street shown their might on the continent as well, qualifying for the CAF Champions League quarterfinals.
They put in a great fight, but Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa prevailed, losing 3-2 in a penalty shootout following two goalless legs.
Young Africans’ pre-season will be different this year, partly because South Africa’s Kaizer Chiefs invited them to play a friendly in July. The game, which is scheduled for the off-season, is an important part of their preparation.
This invitation, coupled with proposals from other clubs in the area, led to the decision to relocate the pre-season camp to South Africa.
Chiefs took part in the Young Africans’ Wananchi Day celebrations in July of last year. The team then played a preseason game at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium, where the home team won 1-0.
