EACC seizes Multi-Million Properties worth USD 606,590
The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has secured a court authorization to seize four assets from ex-Samburu Governor Moses Kasaine Lonolkulal, presumed to be proceeds of misconduct, estimated at over USD 606,590.
In a judgement delivered at Milimani Law Courts, Lady Justice Esther Maina ordered Lonolkulal to give up USD 110,703, previously held and pay the EACC’s legal fees.
The assets in Karen, Nairobi, were supposedly acquired with fraudulent money from the Samburu County Government. Lonolkulal must now pay back USD 612,380 or surrender the assets.
EACC’s Eric Ngumbi specified that the judgment happened from a lawsuit against Lonolkulal for illegally acquiring the money via a county agreement.
Between 2013/2014 and 2018/2019, payments for energy supplies were made to account number 1124724591 at Kenya Commercial Bank, associated to Oryx Service Station Limited, which Lonolkulal used to obtain the Karen properties.
Justice Maina announced that unlawfully contracted public money are the proceeds of fraud and should return to the state.
