South Africa builds concrete wall to keep out Mozambicans

South African government have budgeted close to $2.7m to construct the wall.

The prime minister’s office said the concrete wall would be built in the uMkhanyakude District Municipality on the KZN and Mozambique border.

“An inspection was conducted in-loco along Border Gate 6 where a 5km stretch of the concrete wall has already been constructed.” The office further added that the agreement with the prior contractor was terminated.

“The impact of the project has been positively received by the community and the South African National Defense Force,” it added.
