Trump claims that attempt to defuse the Russia-Ukraine conflict are “somewhat under control”
Trump claimed that following discussions with both leaders, attempts to stop the Russia-Ukraine war from getting worse are “somewhat under control.”
Efforts to keep the Russia-Ukraine war from getting worse are “somewhat under control,” according to US President Donald Trump.
Speaking on Air Force One in an interview with Outkick founder Clay Travis, Trump stressed the importance of having “rational discussions” and keeping cordial ties with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy and Russian President Vladimir Putin in order to negotiate a settlement to the situation.
In an effort to mediate a ceasefire in the conflict, which started when Russia invaded Ukraine in 2022, Trump had separate talks with both presidents last week. Although he was unable to secure a 30-day truce, the negotiations resulted in Putin agreeing to a 30-day respite in Russian attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, and Zelenskiy likewise consenting to the temporary pause.
There have been many casualties and extensive damage from the war, and diplomatic attempts to resolve it are still ongoing. Trump’s comments indicate that the US will continue to try to resolve the issue.
