A Louisiana Mayor and Six Others Are Arrested in a Drug Trafficking Sting

The youngest mayor in Louisiana is currently facing severe charges as a result of the bust of a drug organization that is associated with opioids, firearms, and social media trafficking.

On Tuesday, Tyrin Truong, the youngest mayor in the history of Bogalusa, Louisiana, was issued several severe accusations.

He was arrested for his involvement in a significant drug trafficking organization, and he is currently facing allegations of solicitation of prostitution, dealing with proceeds from drug sales, and unauthorized use of a movable asset. In other words, he is accused of taking someone else’s property without their consent.

A drug-trafficking organization (DTO) in the Bogalusa area was the subject of a months-long investigation by Louisiana State Police, which culminated in the arrest.

According to reports, the organization was allegedly promoting a wide range of substances, including high-grade marijuana, opioids, THC products, and MDMA. And they were even employing social media to manage the entire operation, from payments to sales, thereby significantly expanding their reach.

Truong was detained alongside six other locals, all of whom were associated with trafficking. Some of them were even charged with conspiring to distribute controlled substances. The profits from the drug transactions, according to the police, were utilized to acquire firearms, some of which were associated with violent crimes in the vicinity.

Currently, all seven suspects are being held in the Washington Parish Jail, and Truong’s bond has been set at $150,000.

According to Louisiana State Police, the investigation is far from complete, as additional individuals and potential investigative leads are still being examined.
