Rudy Giuliani was found in contempt for failing to provide evidence in a defamation case

Rudy Giuliani is currently facing additional legal complications as a result of his defamation lawsuit.

On Monday, a federal judge found the former mayor of New York in contempt of court for his failure to comply with court orders to provide information to two former Georgia election workers, Ruby and John.

Shaye Moss and Freeman, whom he disparaged subsequent to the 2020 election. The couple is requesting $150 million in damages, which is an additional legal challenge for Giuliani.

This decision is issued mere weeks prior to Giuliani’s prosecution regarding the proprietorship of a $3.5 million Palm Beach condominium. He was accused of failing to respond to discovery requests from Freeman and Moss as they prepare for the trial. Judge Lewis Liman criticized Giuliani’s conduct, asserting that his deliberate failure to comply was intended to “run the clock” until the trial. The judge dismissed Giuliani’s defense as “self-serving” and insufficient, stating that he has testified that he did not respond because he suspected the motives of the plaintiff’s counsel.

Giuliani has initiated the transfer of assets to Freeman and Moss, which include luxury timepieces, furniture, and baseball memorabilia.

Nevertheless, not all transfers have been finalized, including the title to his 1980 convertible Mercedes. Additionally, he acknowledged that he has been retaining his grandfather’s pocket watch, which he intends to transfer to counsel for protection. Giuliani’s legal difficulties persist as he is accused of contempt for neglecting to comply with court orders, despite allegations that he has misplaced items, such as a signed Joe DiMaggio jersey.

This case further emphasizes Giuliani’s tumultuous legal trajectory, which fails to indicate any signs of abating.
