Jalen Pitre (chest) of the Texans is out for the season

Due to a chest ailment, safety Jalen Pitre of the Houston Texans was placed on injured reserve on Friday, formally ending his season.

Pitre, 25, will have surgery to fix a partly torn pectoral muscle that he suffered during the Nov. 24 loss to the Tennessee Titans.

In 12 starts this season, he recorded 65 tackles, eight passes defensed, one interception, and one forced fumble.

Pitre, a 2022 second-round pick, has played in 44 games (all starts) for the Texans, recording 296 tackles and six picks.
