Szczesny, a former goalkeeper for Poland, has announced his retirement

Wojciech Szczesny, the 34-year-old goalkeeper from Poland, announced on Tuesday that he has retired from professional football. This announcement comes weeks after he left Juventus, a Serie A club, by mutual consent.

Szczesny had one year remaining on his contract at Juve after spending seven seasons there. He had been associated with a transfer to Al-Nassr, a Saudi Pro League club, and Monza, a fellow Italian team.

Szczesny began his professional career at Arsenal, a Premier League club. He has since won the Serie A title three times with Juventus and the Coppa Italia on three separate occasions. Brentford and Roma were also among his tenures.

He appeared for Poland on 84 occasions.

Szczesny shared on Instagram, “In June 2006, I departed my hometown of Warsaw to join Arsenal with the sole objective of establishing a career in the sport of football.” “I was unaware that it would serve as the beginning of a lifelong journey.”

“Everything that I have and everything that I am I owe to the beautiful game of football.”
