Chelsea has confirmed the acquisition of French defender Maxence Lacroix from Crystal Palace for a fee of £52 million.
The 26-year-old has finalized a contract that extends until 2032 following his transfer to Stamford Bridge, marking the Blues’ newest acquisition in preparation for the upcoming season under head coach Xabi Alonso.
Lacroix joined Crystal Palace from Wolfsburg in 2024 and made 55 appearances in all competitions last season, contributing to the Eagles’ triumph in the UEFA Conference League, marking the club’s first major European trophy.
The center-back made three appearances for France during the 2026 FIFA World Cup, including the third-place play-off against England, where Les Bleus secured a fourth-place finish.
“I’m truly proud and delighted to be involved in this wonderful project, and I can’t wait to start playing,” Lacroix expressed. “I feel a narrative waiting to be crafted, and I want to contribute to it.”
Lacroix is now Chelsea’s third signing of the summer, joining Morgan Rogers and Marco Palestra. Additionally, Geovany Quenda and Emmanuel Emegha have officially joined the club this month after finalizing moves for 2025.
