Liverpool has reached an agreement in principle to appoint Iraola as their new manager

Liverpool have reached an agreement with former Bournemouth coach Andoni Iraola following discussions to succeed Arne Slot.

Liverpool have come to an agreement in principle to appoint Andoni Iraola as their new manager after successful discussions, as reported by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

The decision follows the recent dismissal of Arne Slot by Liverpool, which occurred after a comprehensive end-of-season review of the club’s campaign.

Iraola, who led AFC Bournemouth to a sixth-place finish and the club’s inaugural qualification for European football, swiftly became Liverpool’s top choice.

On Tuesday, Romano posted on X: “BREAKING: Liverpool has reached an agreement in principle to appoint Andoni Iraola as the new manager, here we go!”

“Exclusive story from Saturday, fully confirmed: Arne Slot has departed, and Iraola will take the helm of the LFC project, as anticipated.” Discussions progressed significantly over the past 48 hours, and an agreement has been reached.

Liverpool has reportedly acted quickly to secure the 43-year-old Spaniard, recognizing him as the top choice to replace Slot at Anfield.

Other managers, such as Sebastian Hoeneß and Pierre Sage, were reportedly under consideration; however, it appears that neither was regarded as favorably as Iraola.

Additional reports indicate that Liverpool consulted former manager Jürgen Klopp for his insights during the process. Meanwhile, information is starting to surface about the coaching staff Iraola might bring along if the appointment is confirmed.

The agreement is anticipated to facilitate Iraola’s assumption of leadership at Liverpool as they gear up for the upcoming season.
