White House doctor says Trump is fit for duty even though his legs and hands are swollen and bruised

The medical report indicates that Trump is in excellent health, with minor leg swelling and bruising showing signs of improvement.

US President Donald Trump is reported to be in excellent health, despite experiencing slight swelling in his lower legs and minor bruising on his hands, as stated in a medical report released by the White House on Friday.

The memo, authored by White House physician Dr. Sean Barbabella after Trump’s examination on Tuesday, indicated that the 79-year-old president is fully capable of fulfilling his responsibilities.

“President Trump is in excellent health, showcasing robust cardiac, pulmonary, neurological, and overall physical function,” Barbabella stated.

The physician stated that Trump is “fully fit to carry out all duties of the commander-in-chief and head of state.”

Trump had the examination at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, marking his third visit to the facility in 13 months. The visit garnered attention following recent photographs that revealed swollen ankles, bruised hands, and a blotchy neck, raising concerns regarding the president’s health.

After the appointment, Trump informed reporters that “everything checked out perfectly.”

Barbabella’s report indicated that Trump is still experiencing “slight lower leg swelling … with improvement from last year” along with persistent hand bruising, which he characterized as “common,” “benign,” and “consistent with minor soft tissue irritation related to frequent handshaking in the context of aspirin use for cardiovascular prevention.”

The memo failed to clarify the treatment Trump received for a skin condition on his neck in March and did not specify whether he had another magnetic resonance imaging scan, as he did in October.

Trump, who will celebrate his 80th birthday in June, holds the distinction of being the oldest individual to take on the role of US president. He has often compared his fitness and energy levels to those of his predecessor, Joe Biden, who departed from office last year at the age of 82 after encountering criticism regarding his capacity to serve.

According to the report, the president’s cardiac function is normal, and “a comprehensive neurological examination demonstrated normal mental status,” which includes screenings for depression and anxiety.

“Preventive counseling was provided, which included guidance on diet, a recommendation to take a low-dose aspirin, increased physical activity, and continued weight loss,” the memo stated.

The report indicated that Trump stands at 6 feet 3 inches (190 cm) tall and has a weight of 238 pounds (108 kg).
