Axios reports that Nvidia chips will debut in the first Windows PC next week

AI chip company Nvidia and Microsoft are set to release the first Windows PCs next week that use Nvidia’s chips as the main processor, Axios claimed on Saturday, citing sources.

Many computer brands, including Dell and Microsoft’s Surface line, are planning to make computers with Nvidia graphics.

Moving to chips that last longer on a battery hasn’t caused a big sales boom yet, despite Microsoft’s best efforts. Apple, its main competitor, uses its chips and presented updated MacBooks in March with its newest M5-series chips.

Reports say that Microsoft and Nvidia will show off the new PCs at the Computex trade show in Taiwan and Microsoft’s Build developer meeting in San Francisco.

Asked for comments, Microsoft and Nvidia did not reply.

“A new era of PC” and what looked like coordinates in Taipei, Taiwan, were posted on the official X accounts of Windows, Nvidia, and the chip design company Arm on Friday, hinting at a future announcement.

First, Reuters reported in 2023 that Nvidia was going to make CPUs that would use Arm technology and run Microsoft’s Windows OS.

Qualcomm today makes Arm-based CPUs for Windows laptops. Intel and AMD are still the main companies that make CPUs for Windows laptops.

According to the Axios story, Microsoft will also release software that will let AI agents do work on specific Windows computers.
