Meta now has global plans for Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp
Meta Platforms has started to roll out payment plans around the world on Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp to make more money in different ways.
Meta Platforms has started rolling out payment plans around the world on Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp. This move comes as the tech giant tries harder to find ways to make money besides digital ads.
The new service includes “Plus” subscription levels for customers that give users access to extra features like customizing their profiles, better responses, story insights, and more ways to interact with the service.
Prices will be set so that users can subscribe to Instagram Plus, Facebook Plus, or WhatsApp Plus for a monthly fee of $2.99 to $3.99, based on the platform.
Naomi Gleit, Meta’s Head of Product, announced the rollout and said that the company would keep adding more features to the monthly plans.
She stated, “In the future, we will introduce more enjoyable features.”
She also said that the subscription options are for users who want more from Meta’s platforms, especially producers and users who are very active.
The company also said it would start trying some new products, such as professional plans for creators and businesses and subscription levels for regular users that focus on AI.
These projects will be grouped together under a new name, “Meta One.” This name will be the hub of Meta’s subscription community.
To go along with the growth, Meta is also trying two AI subscription plans for users of its Meta AI system. These plans cost $7.99 and $19.99 per month.
The top level of AI should have more processing power for complicated questions, better reasoning skills, and better tools for making images and videos across all Meta platforms.
Next month, testing for the AI subscription plans will start in some areas, such as Singapore, Guatemala, and Bolivia.
Meta said that its current Meta Verified service, which verifies identities, protects against impersonation, and offers extra account support, will not be replaced by the new payment options.
For Instagram Plus users, the plan includes extras like seeing how many times a Story has been watched more than once, making an endless list of Story viewers that aren’t Close Friends, and keeping a Story public for longer than 24 hours.
Subscribers will also be able to highlight Stories once a week to reach more people, preview Stories without showing up in viewer lists, look for Story viewers, and post content directly to profiles without showing up in followers’ feeds.
Some of the other features include Super Heart animated reactions, custom app icons, personalized fonts for bios, and more profile pin choices.
It is likely that Facebook Plus will have a lot of the same features as Instagram Plus. On the other hand, WhatsApp Plus will have paid sticker packs, app themes, and more chat pinning options.
Following the launch of paid verification for Facebook and Instagram in 2023, this announcement is another change in Meta’s plan to make money.
At the time, Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, said the move, which was similar to Elon Musk’s paid verification plan on X (formerly Twitter), was meant to make all of Meta’s platforms more secure and authentic while also creating new ways to make money.
