Barcelona have reached an agreement for a €80 million deal to acquire Anthony Gordon from Newcastle
Barcelona has reached an agreement to sign Anthony Gordon from Newcastle following the winger’s impressive performance, where he scored 18 goals last season.
Spanish giants FC Barcelona have finalized an agreement with Newcastle United to acquire winger Anthony Gordon in a deal exceeding €80m, inclusive of add-ons.
The agreement stipulates a fixed fee of €70m, with further payments anticipated to elevate the total package beyond €80m following the acceptance of the bid by Newcastle’s board and Saudi owners.
Gordon is set to travel to Barcelona on Thursday to undergo a medical examination and finalize contract-signing procedures in preparation for his move to the Camp Nou.
The England international concluded the 2025 season as Newcastle’s leading scorer, netting 18 goals in total across all competitions. Despite having signed a long-term contract extension at St James’ Park in October 2024, with four years still left on the agreement, speculation regarding his future has intensified in recent weeks.
Gordon remained on the bench for Newcastle’s last four matches of the season, with reports indicating that the club aimed to prevent any injury issues ahead of a possible transfer.
German champions Bayern Munich had demonstrated significant interest in acquiring the former Everton FC winger earlier this month.
Reports indicated that Bayern aimed to bolster an attacking lineup that already includes England captain Harry Kane, along with former Premier League players Michael Olise and Luis Diaz.
Barcelona have acted swiftly to finalize Gordon’s transfer ahead of the FIFA Club World Cup, with the deal now approaching its conclusion.
