Rapper Toosii Leaves Syracuse Orange to Join Lane Kiffin’s LSU Roster

Multi-platinum artist Nau’jour Grainger steps onto the field as a wide receiver for the Tigers.

LSU football has secured its most notable addition of the spring, yet this recruit is more recognized for his chart-topping success than his high school highlight reel.

Rapper Toosii, whose real name is Nau’jour Grainger, has officially transitioned from the stage to the SEC, now appearing on the Tigers’ roster as a wide receiver with the number 89.

The transition signifies a complete circle for Grainger, who excelled as an athlete at Rolesville High School in North Carolina before setting aside his football aspirations to follow a career in music. Following the achievement of multi-platinum success, the artist chose to make a comeback to the gridiron in late 2025. He initially committed to Syracuse, but the partnership was brief. Prior to the commencement of spring practice, Grainger decided to part ways with the Orange and enrolled at LSU under the guidance of head coach Lane Kiffin.

On Tuesday, the rapper known for “Favorite Song” made his practice debut in Baton Rouge, catching passes from quarterback Husan Longstreet. The decision has swiftly captured the attention of college football, as Kiffin works to assemble a roster that combines classic talent with significant star appeal.

Despite skepticism about a recording artist’s ability to manage the demands of Division I basketball, Grainger appears fully committed to the challenge ahead.

Fans will soon discover whether the musical talent leads to success on Saturday. LSU is preparing for a crucial season opener against Clemson, set for Saturday, September 5.
