Senegal Organizes AFCON Trophy Parade In light of the CAF’s decision to reverse the outcome of the match

Senegal proceeds with a trophy parade in Paris as it appeals the CAF ruling that granted the AFCON final victory to Morocco.

Senegal is poised to showcase the Africa Cup of Nations trophy prior to their international friendly match against Peru in Paris on Saturday, even though the Confederation of African Football has revoked the title.

The Lions of Teranga achieved what was considered their second AFCON title on 18 January by overcoming Morocco 1-0 after extra time. The final concluded in tumultuous fashion as Senegal players exited the pitch following Morocco being granted a stoppage-time penalty while the match remained scoreless.

Last week, CAF reversed the outcome and granted Morocco a 3-0 win.

Senegal has appealed the decision, and the Court of Arbitration for Sport has confirmed that it has received the case, stating it will issue a ruling “as swiftly as possible.”

In the midst of the ongoing legal dispute, the Senegalese Football Federation has arranged a trophy parade to coincide with the events of Saturday’s match at the Stade de France.

Abdoulaye Fall, the president of FSF, expressed strong criticism of the decision, labeling it as unjust.

“Confronted with what can only be described as the most glaring and unparalleled administrative theft in the annals of our sport, the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) stands firm in its refusal to regard the situation as unavoidable,” he stated.

He stated, “Senegal will stand firm and uphold its values.” Our struggle now goes beyond the football field.

The action reflects Senegal’s strong position as they persist in contesting CAF’s decision while upholding their assertion to the title.
