Man Charged with Theft of Unreleased Beyoncé Music Was Sentenced to Five Years in Prison — Opted for Trial Instead

Kelvin Evans has rejected a plea deal and is now confronted with the possibility of a six-year sentence in the Atlanta case.

A man charged with the theft of unreleased music from Beyoncé has declined a five-year plea agreement and is set to proceed to trial, potentially facing a longer sentence.

Kelvin Evans had the opportunity to finalize the sentence, but instead, he informed the court that he is prepared to contest it. At a hearing in Fulton County, Evans appeared via video and expressed his position clearly, stating, “I’m ready for trial now.” As a result of that decision, prosecutors indicate that he now faces a potential sentence of up to six years if found guilty.

The incident dates back to July 8, 2025, involving a 2024 Jeep Wagoneer associated with choreographer Christopher Grant, which was burglarized in an Atlanta parking deck located on Krog Street. According to investigators, Grant and dancer Diandre Blue momentarily stepped away, but upon their return, they discovered that the rear window had been shattered and their luggage was missing.

Officials indicate that the lost bags held considerable worth. Police reports detail the presence of MacBook laptops, Apple headphones, designer clothing, and hard drives thought to hold unreleased material from Beyoncé. Grant informed officers that he possessed “personal sensitive information” related to the superstar within those items, which heightened the urgency of the case.

On August 26, Evans was taken into custody by Hapeville police and has been held ever since.

Now, rather than relying on a certain timeline, he is wagering everything on the outcome in court.
