Orlando City has officially announced the signing of French forward Antoine Griezmann on a Designated Player contract, representing a significant enhancement for the Major League Soccer team.
Griezmann, 35, has reached an agreement on a two-year contract that will extend through the 2027 to 2028 season, with the club retaining an option for the 2028 to 2029 campaign. The transfer is contingent upon the French international successfully completing a medical examination, obtaining his international transfer certificate, and acquiring a P1 visa.
The ex-Atlético Madrid star will finish the ongoing season with the Spanish club before joining Orlando City when the summer transfer window begins on July 13.
“I am thrilled to embark on this new chapter of my career with Orlando City,” Griezmann stated.
“During my initial discussions with the Club, I sensed a powerful ambition and a distinct vision for the future, which resonated with me deeply. I am excited to make Orlando my new home, connect with the supporters, experience the energy at Inter&Co Stadium, and dedicate myself fully to helping the team accomplish remarkable achievements.
Griezmann touches down in the United States following an illustrious club career, during which he has netted 298 goals and provided 132 assists across 792 professional appearances for Atlético Madrid, Barcelona, and Real Sociedad.
He has achieved numerous accolades at the club level, such as the 2017 to 2018 UEFA Europa League, the 2018 UEFA Super Cup, and the 2014 Spanish Supercopa with Atlético Madrid. He lifted the Copa del Rey in 2020 to 2021 with Barcelona and secured the LaLiga 2 title in 2009 to 2010 with Real Sociedad.

He received the Bronze Ball and Silver Boot awards during the 2018 tournament and was recognized as Man of the Match in the final.
