Thunder will not be visiting the White House because of a scheduling conflict

The current NBA champion Oklahoma City Thunder will not be making a stop at the White House during their visit to the nation’s capital this weekend.

A spokesperson for the Thunder confirmed on Friday that a “timing issue” will hinder the team’s ability to make the traditional appearance. “We have been in touch with the White House, and we appreciate the communication we have had, but the timing just didn’t work out,” the Thunder stated in a message shared with The Athletic.

Oklahoma City, enjoying a remarkable 10-game winning streak, will visit the Washington Wizards on Saturday at 5 p.m. ET, before traveling to Philadelphia to take on the 76ers on Monday night.

The Thunder triumphed over the Indiana Pacers in a thrilling seven-game series last June, securing the franchise’s first championship since the Seattle SuperSonics won the title in 1978-79.
