Kit misplaced his luggage, while Olympic champion Hodgkinson trained using borrowed shoes

Olympic champion Keely Hodgkinson faced a challenging situation when her luggage was lost during her flight to Poland for the World Indoor Championships, leaving her without her kit for nearly two days. As a result, she had to borrow training shoes in preparation for the women’s 800m event.

Britain’s Hodgkinson, who secured gold at the Paris Olympics and broke the world indoor 800 m record last month, easily qualified for the final in Torun, finishing with a time of one minute and 58.53 seconds on Saturday.

Hodgkinson informed reporters on Friday that the luggage arrived prior to the first round, after she smoothly advanced through the first heat. “I was beginning to feel frustrated. ” A lovely Polish girl lent me her spikes, and they resulted in a blister. I simply didn’t have any equipment or my supplements. “But everything is fine now,” the 24-year-old stated.

Hodgkinson topped the heats and is the frontrunner for gold in an event she has had to miss on three occasions.

“In 2022, I made it this far, but I didn’t end up starting due to a torn quad.” In 2024, I sustained a knee injury that sidelined me throughout the winter, causing me to miss Glasgow. Last year, I tore my hamstring just before it began. “It has been quite an emotional journey,” Hodgkinson remarked.
