Israeli president will visit the families of the Bondi Beach shootings while in Australia
Israeli President Isaac Herzog’s office said Tuesday that he will visit Australia next month to meet with members of the Australian Jewish community and the families of the Bondi Beach shooting victims.
“President Herzog will visit Jewish communities across Australia to express solidarity and offer strength to the community in the aftermath of the attack,” his office said in a statement. The attack, which killed 15 people during a Jewish Hanukkah celebration in December, was Australia’s worst mass shooting in decades.
Herzog, whose job as president is primarily ceremonial, is also expected to meet with Anthony Albanese, the prime minister of Australia. He is scheduled to depart on February 8 and return on February 12.
