Candace Owens responds with a phony apology after ceasing and desisting after Charlie Kirk’s TPUSA
Candace Owens claims that she has received a legal letter from Turning Point USA instructing her to cease her public inquiry into Charlie Kirk’s death. Owens mocked the notice in real time and called it her “first legal letter of 2026” when she posted the news on social media and her podcast.
According to reports, Turning Point USA ceased operations as a result of Owens’s repeated ideas regarding Kirk’s murder, which questioned elements of the official investigation and the organization’s management of the repercussions after his death in September 2025. According to TPUSA, it is concerned about derogatory remarks and possible breaches of contract.
Owens embraced the situation with sarcasm and fun in her most recent episode.
As if the legal notification were a badge of honor, she said, “Congratulations to me.” After that, she delivered a mock apology to TPUSA, urging listeners to “donate all of your money to Turning Points USA.” They do nothing improper. She called the group above reproach and added a satirical flourish when she said that TPUSA would be better suited to handle even a weak relative’s inheritance.
Owens has become a divisive figure in conservative circles, partly due to her public disagreement with Kirk’s widow, Erika Kirk, who is currently the head of TPUSA, and her outspoken doubts about the official story surrounding Kirk’s death. In the larger conservative movement, the disagreement underscores growing conflicts over internal power dynamics and trustworthiness.
A larger discussion about free expression, legal limits, and how public leaders confront opponents following high-profile catastrophes is highlighted by her response.
