Nicki Minaj Clears $503K Settlement Associated with 2019 Lawsuit Kenneth Petty: Permitted to Stay at His Hidden Hills Home
Nicki Minaj’s California property is no longer in danger of being lost.
With the official satisfaction of a six-figure civil judgment related to a litigation involving her husband, Kenneth Petty, the rap icon has been able to maintain her Hidden Hills property and put an end to a tense legal scenario. Attorneys attested to the payment of Thomas Weidenmuller’s judgment during a court hearing this week. This confirmation eliminated the prospect that, in the event that payment was not made, the court would order Minaj to sell her property in order to settle the debt.
The dispute began when former bodyguard Weidenmuller sued, claiming that Petty had beaten him backstage during one of Minaj’s 2019 performances. The court entered a $503,318.02 default judgment after neither Minaj nor Petty answered the action.
Minaj previously claimed that a former business manager had neglected to inform her of the case, which she was not aware of at the time it was filed. Nevertheless, the court determined that she was still financially accountable, putting her personal assets in jeopardy in the event that the judgment was not paid.
Paul Saso, Weidenmuller’s lawyer, told the court before to the hearing that Minaj’s team had already settled the dispute. He subsequently revealed that the arrangement was finalized at the last minute, leading to an apology to the judge for the abrupt alteration in the proceedings. The judge recognized that Minaj would have had to sell her house in order to avoid the alternative, but the specifics of the payment or settlement were not disclosed. That result is no longer possible.
