Actor Djimon Hounsou said he was punched in the face, and his ex-girlfriend is now being charged
Actor Djimon Hounsou informed Atlanta police about a domestic dispute late last year, which has now led to an arrest.
Police records related to the incident indicate that Hounsou reached out to authorities in December, claiming that his former girlfriend, Riza Simpson, hit him in the face with a closed fist during a confrontation at a townhouse he owns in Atlanta. The disagreement allegedly started when Hounsou asked Simpson to exit the premises.
The couple has two children together. Hounsou informed the officers that the children were present upstairs in the home during the time of the reported altercation. Authorities observed that although the children did not see the event, they might have overheard it.
Several months later, the situation intensified. On Friday, officers from the Atlanta Police executed an arrest warrant at the same townhouse and apprehended Simpson. She faced arrest on misdemeanor charges for simple assault and obstruction. The obstruction charge arises from claims that Simpson gave misleading information during questioning by officers.
According to police reports, the children were present with Simpson during her arrest. Officers noted that they could hear the children crying in the background as they knocked on the front door prior to taking her into custody.
No injuries that necessitated medical attention were made public, and no further information regarding the purported false statements has been provided.
Both Hounsou and Simpson’s representatives have been reached out to for comments. Currently, neither party has made a public statement about the incident or the arrest.
The case continues to be classified as a misdemeanor, with no court dates or additional legal actions publicly confirmed at this moment.
