Macron Issues a Warning At Davos About a “World Without Rules” and Demands Respect and the Rule of Law
Macron has urged respect and the rule of law over harshness, warning that the world is moving away from rules.
Emmanuel Macron, the president of France, has raised concerns about a global trend away from international law and regulations, stating that “imperial ambitions” are reviving in the contemporary world.
Macron said that the world is heading toward a situation “where international law is trampled underfoot and where the only law that seems to matter is that of the strongest” during his speech on Tuesday at the World Economic Forum in Davos.
He emphasized the necessity of progress and stability, especially in Europe, but he made it apparent that power by itself cannot establish world order. We do think that the globe needs greater stability and progress here in the center of this continent. However, Macron stated, “We do prefer the rule of law to brutality and respect to bullies.”
