Super Eagles win AFCON Bronze by defeating Egypt on penalties

Nigeria defeated Egypt to earn the AFCON bronze, with Ademola Lookman scoring the game-winning penalty after Stanley Nwabali stopped kicks from Mohammed Salah and Omar Marmoush.

Nigeria’s Super Eagles won the bronze medal in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations on Saturday after defeating Egypt 4–2 on penalties at the Stade Mohammed V in Casablanca.

Nigeria outclassed the Pharaohs in the subsequent penalty shootout after the third-place match ended goalless after ordinary time.

Just one day before the tournament final in Rabat, the Super Eagles were able to conclude their AFCON campaign with a triumph.

After losing narrowly to hosts Morocco in the semi-finals and being eliminated in a penalty shootout after extra time, Nigeria advanced to the third-place game.
