Rwanda and Togo agree to allow all passport holders to travel without a visa

Rwanda and Togo have strengthened their relationship by signing a visa waiver agreement that permits passport holders of all types to travel between the two nations without a visa.

The deal was signed in Lomé, Togo, by Prof. Robert Dussey, the Togolese counterpart, and Amb. Olivier Nduhungirehe, the Rwandan Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. On January 16, the Rwandan Ministry of Foreign Affairs made the announcement.

On Saturday, January 17, Nduhungirehe traveled to Lomé to attend a High-Level Meeting on the Coherence and Consolidation of the Peace Process in DR Congo and the Great Lakes Region. The African Union (AU) is leading mediation efforts to reduce tensions in the eastern DR Congo.

The African Union Commission Chairperson Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, along with prominent AU-appointed facilitators such as former Presidents Uhuru Kenyatta of Kenya, Olusegun Obasanjo of Nigeria, Sahle-Work Zewde of Ethiopia, Mokgweetsi Masisi of Botswana, and Catherine Samba-Panza of the Central African Republic, attended the meeting hosted by Togo.
