Eto’o was fined and banned by CAF

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has fined Samuel Eto’o, President of the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT), $20,000 and suspended him for four games after its jury rendered a disciplinary ruling.

The former African Footballer of the Year’s behavior during the Morocco vs. Cameroon game prompted a disciplinary procedure, which led to the sentence.

FECAFOOT acknowledged receiving the CAF Disciplinary Jury’s decision in an official statement, but it voiced serious concerns about the procedure and the reasoning behind it.

The decision, which led to a four-match suspension and a monetary fine, is “devoid of any explicit motivation,” according to the Cameroonian FA, raising grave questions regarding openness and adherence to the core rules of a fair trial.

The hurried process that resulted in the sentence, according to FECAFOOT, does not completely satisfy the requirements of a fair and equitable disciplinary procedure.

Samuel Eto’o will contest the ruling through the proper legal processes, the federation declared, despite the loss.

“FECAFOOT takes note of its President’s decision to exercise the avenues of appeal provided by the applicable regulations, within the specified time limits and in the required forms,” the statement read.

Additionally, the Cameroonian football governing body emphasized its commitment to the values of transparency and credible disciplinary justice as well as its steadfast support for Eto’o.

The event heightens the already tense aftermath of the match between Morocco and Cameroon.
