Spain will not accept US involvement in Venezuela according to the PM
Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez on Saturday stated that Spain will not acknowledge a U.S. intervention in Venezuela that contravenes international law, following the capture of long-serving Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro by U.S. forces in an overnight operation.
Spain did not acknowledge the Maduro regime. However, it will not acknowledge an intervention that contravenes international law and steers the region toward a future filled with uncertainty and hostility,” Sanchez stated on X, following U.S. President Donald Trump’s declaration that the U.S. would govern the South American nation until a “safe” transition was achieved.
Sanchez urged all parties to consider the civilian population, uphold the United Nations Charter, and promote a fair and dialogue-driven transition.
