Two people are killed and numerous others are injured in a Pennsylvania nursing home explosion that causes a partial collapse due to fire

Rescue attempts are still underway after an explosion and fire at Bristol’s Silver Lake Nursing Home killed two people and injured others.

An explosion and fire at a Pennsylvania nursing home have resulted in at least two fatalities and numerous injuries. Around 2:00 PM local time (7:00 PM GMT) on Tuesday, emergency personnel noticed a gas odor, which led to the explosion that partially collapsed Bristol’s Silver Lake Nursing Home. The building burst as they arrived, starting a huge fire.

Authorities are uncertain if the five people who are still missing were inside the building when the explosion occurred. Responders hurried occupants to safety by swiftly removing them from elevators, stairwells, and windows. According to Fire Chief Kevin Dippolito, one police officer even lifted two individuals over his shoulders to safety.

Dippolito confirmed that a number of people were rescued after being trapped in the basement of the collapsed building. He stated, “We haven’t moved into recovery and are still in rescue mode.” Rescuers are still looking for anyone who may still be inside.

The precise number of injuries is still unknown, according to Governor Josh Shapiro, and the blast’s cause is being looked into. Local media outlets posted pictures of a partially fallen building with enormous flames gushing from it.

Noting that locals also volunteered, Governor Shapiro commended the regional response. He remarked, “This is the Pennsylvania way: neighbors helping neighbors in a moment of need.”
