Lakers guard Luka Doncic will be sidelined for a week due to leg and finger issues

Luka Doncic, a star guard for the Los Angeles Lakers, will likely be out for a week because he sprained his left finger and hurt his lower left leg, ESPN reported Sunday.

For games against the Sacramento Kings on Sunday, the Portland Trail Blazers on Monday, the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday, and the Memphis Grizzlies on Friday, the Lakers will likely be without Doncic and star forward LeBron James.

James has didn’t play in the Lakers’ first two games because his right leg hurts. It won’t be until next month that James comes back.

For the first two games of the season, the Lakers went 1-2. Doncic filled in for James by scoring 46.0 points per game and adding 11.5 boards and 8.5 assists. With 40 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 assists in his first two games of the season, Doncic, who is 26 years old, became the first player in NBA history to do so.

During his eight years with the Lakers and the Dallas Mavericks (2018–25), Doncic has played in 452 games and scored 28.7 points, 8.6 rebounds, and 8.2 assists. All of those games were starts.
