Pedro Gonçalves making his debut as Young Africans’ new head coach

Pedro Gonçalves, the former manager of the Angolan national team, has been formally introduced as the new head coach of Young Africans SC.

Romain Folz, who left the Tanzanian champions earlier this month, is replaced by the 49-year-old Portuguese tactician.

Gonçalves brings a wealth of experience to Dar es Salaam, having managed the Angolan national team from 2019 to 2024, when he was praised for nurturing young players and playing an exciting style of football. He developed some of Portugal’s best up-and-coming players at Sporting Lisbon’s junior system for a number of years prior to his trip to Africa.

Gonçalves’ immediate responsibilities will include leading the squad through their CAF Champions League group stage campaign and preserving their supremacy in the Tanzanian Premier League, according to Yanga officials.

Because of his track record of discipline, tactical planning, and young development, the club’s supporters are hopeful that the Portuguese manager can bring Jangwani into yet another prosperous stage.
