Osimhen, Salah, Hakimi, and Anguissa are among the ten players on CAF’s shortlist for the 2025 African Player of the Year.
Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen, Egypt’s Mohammed Salah, and Morocco’s Achraf Hakimi are among the leading candidates on the Confederation of African Football’s (CAF) final shortlist for the 2025 African Player of the Year award.
Frank Anguissa from Cameroon, Fiston Mayele from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Denis Bouanga from Gabon, Serhou Guirassy from Guinea, Oussama Lamlouki from Morocco, Iliman Ndiaye from Senegal, and Pape Matar Sarr from Senegal are also on the ten-man list.
Some of the best African performers throughout Europe and beyond for the 2024–2025 season are featured on the shortlist.
One of the leading contenders for the title is Osimhen, who won two trophies and recorded 37 goals and 7 assists in 41 games.
After leading Liverpool to victory, Mohammed Salah, who scored 34 goals and provided 23 assists in 52 games, is also a serious contender.
Achraf Hakimi has a strong case for the coveted honor because he has four trophies with Paris Saint-Germain and nine goals and twelve assists in 48 games.
The technical committee of CAF, journalists, African football luminaries, and coaches and captains of the national teams will vote to decide the winner.
At an unspecified location, the CAF Awards 2025 celebration will honor the top players on the continent in a number of categories, including men’s and women’s football.
