Atletico Madrid Files UEFA Complaint About Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium’s Lack of Hot Water

Atlético Madrid has complained to UEFA because there was no hot water in the Emirates locker rooms before training.

Prior to their Champions League match on Tuesday, Atlético Madrid complained to UEFA that the locker rooms at Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium did not have hot water.

ESPN was told by the La Liga club that the problem happened during training on Monday at 6:30 p.m. local time, not long after boss Diego Simeone and forward Julián Álvarez had talked to the media.

When the team realized what was wrong, they decided to go back to their hotel right away to take a shower. The problem was later fixed. The club’s spokesman said, “Atlético made a complaint to UEFA officials who were at the Emirates.”

The Premier League leaders, Arsenal, have won both of their away Champions League games so far—at Athletic Club and at home against Olympiacos. Atlético, on the other hand, lost 3-2 to Liverpool before beating Eintracht Frankfurt 5-1.

After being banned for one game because of an altercation with fans at Anfield, Simeone will be back on the bench for the game. On Monday, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta said that Simeone had “passion” and that managers have “a responsibility to be an example” in how they act.

Atlético are fourth in La Liga. They played well at home, including a 5-2 win over Real Madrid in the derby, but they had a tough time when they were away. Last year, Real Madrid beat them in a penalty shootout in the round of 16 of the Champions League, while Arsenal made it to the quarterfinals.
