Morocco needs to be united before the AFCON challenge

The national team of Morocco is under more and more heat two months before they host the AFCON. Fans and the media aren’t pleased with the Atlas Lions’ play, even though they won their 16th straight game against Congo, which tied the world record held by Spain and Germany.

Reporters in the area called the win “flavorless” and “dull,” pointing out that the team lacked creativity and flow, even though they are still on an amazing streak of not losing.

Now, Coach Walid Regragui is in a tough spot. It hasn’t worked out the way he thought it would since the friendly against Bahrain, and there are more and more doubts about the team’s readiness for a home event that many people think Morocco should win. The AFCON could decide Regragui’s future, since only a regional win is likely to keep him in his job.

At his most recent news conference, Regragui called for unity and said he was worried about the bad vibes around the team. He said, “People seem more worried every time we win.” “Both fans and players must work together if we want to win this AFCON at home.” Nayef Aguerd, a defender, agreed with him and told the crowd that even though they were angry, “they want Morocco to win.” The countdown to the AFCON has started, but Morocco’s toughest opponent is still Harmony.
