Hakimi receives widespread recognition when it comes to Ballon D’Or voting
Before the official Ballon d’Or winner was announced, it was clear that Achraf Hakimi was highly regarded in the football world. In fact, several countries put him in their top three choices for the coveted award.
Not only did Belgium, but also his home country of Morocco, Hakimi, and Gabon vote for him as the best defender, which shows how highly his achievements are regarded.
A lot of different countries, like Bahrain, Benin, Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast, Iraq, Japan, Montenegro, Qatar, the DR Congo, the Czech Republic, and the United Arab Emirates, gave him second-place votes.
He also came in third in the votes of Saudi Arabia, Cameroon, France, Ghana, Romania, Senegal, Tunisia, Oman, and Zambia because he was reliable and had a big impact on the world stage.
Even though someone else won the Ballon d’Or, Hakimi’s nomination showed that he was becoming one of the most admired fullbacks in the world and a real representative of African football on a global level.
