Deal finalized: Ivorian star ties with French Ligue 1 team
Clement Akpa, a recent Ivory Coast international, has agreed to a new, long-term deal with AJ Auxerre, a French Ligue 1 team.
The 23-year-old, who played in 31 games and contributed an assist last season, is one of the AJA’s important players and helped the team maintain its position in the top division.
Auxerre has extended the contract of Akpa, a left-back by trade, in recognition of his strong start to the current campaign.
The journey of Clément Akpa to Auxerre is still ongoing. Our defender, who joined AJA from FC Metz in 2021, has extended his contract by one season, until June 2028, according to a statement from the club.
As a result, he is a player who is always improving and who upholds AJA’s principles while continuing his journey with the team.
The former Orleans player chose to play for the Elephants because he was born in Meudon, France, and one of his parents is Ivorian.
He made his debut in a match against Benin in March 2025 and has since received three caps for Ivory Coast.
